Fatal Error: Maximum Execution Time Exceeded in WordPress
Other similar issues include a white screen or empty page content. This problem is related to low PHP configuration limits. The solution is to increase the PHP limits. You can do this yourself or contact your web hosting provider and ask them to increase those limits to the minimum recommended in the Server Requirements section.
# Checking Server Configuration
You can verify your PHP configuration limits by installing the free plugin Query Monitor (opens new window) or by contacting your hosting provider to ask about the current settings and request adjustments if needed.
Once Query Monitor (opens new window) is installed and activated, go to your site frontend. You should see a new item in the admin bar. It may show Query Monitor, QM, or some network statistics.
EnvironmentIn the opened bottom panel, double-check all the key numbers. If your server has low configuration limits, please contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase those. You can also check your actual PHP version from this panel. More information related to recommended PHP limits can be found in the Server Requirements section.
After resolving any issues with PHP limits, you can safely delete the Query Monitor plugin as it’s a developer tool and not needed to run and manage your website.
